The Palladium Rule

Verse of the Day: Matthew 7:12

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

The Golden Rule—treating others as we want to be treated—is a universal truth found not only in the Bible but across many other religions. It’s such a fundamental principle that we teach it to our children, yet as adults, we often forget to live by it. Recently, I’ve come across the Platinum Rule, which suggests treating others not how we want to be treated, but how they want to be treated, taking into account their preferences, pronouns, and backgrounds. However, I believe we should go even further, following what I call the Palladium Rule: treating others the way Jesus would treat them. Jesus calls us to extend fairness, justice, kindness, compassion, respect, mercy, and forgiveness to everyone. He even commands us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. While we may fall short of this high standard, we can thank God for the Holy Spirit, who convicts and leads us to repentance. Let’s strive to love others as Christ has loved us.
