Nympha: Supporting and Blessing Believers

Bible Verse:   Colossians 4:15

Give my greetings to the brothers and sisters at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house.

In Colossians chapter 4, the Bible speaks of a woman named Nympha who made a powerful impact on the early Christian community. In the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Colossians, he sends special greetings to her—a gesture of deep respect and gratitude. Nympha had opened her home as a gathering place for believers, providing a place for worship, teaching, and fellowship.

In those days, dedicated church buildings didn’t exist. The early Christians relied on the hospitality and courage of people like Nympha, who willingly opened her home to followers of Jesus. Her home became more than just a shelter; it became a space where believers came together, strengthened each other, and grew in their faith. Through her generosity and devotion, Nympha created an environment where the message of Jesus could spread, flourish, and take root in the hearts of others. Though she may be mentioned only briefly, her impact was profound—a reminder that even the simplest acts of hospitality can leave an eternal legacy.

The Lesson: It’s important to use what we have to bless and support fellow believers. Just as Nympha opened her home for worship, we, too, can offer our homes, resources, time, or unique gifts to create spaces for fellowship and encouragement. Invite friends over for Bible studies, lend a hand to those in need, or share uplifting words. Through prayer and being a blessing, we can build up our brothers and sisters in Christ. Even the smallest, behind-the-scenes acts strengthen the church, foster community, and help others grow closer to God.
