Verse of the Day: Titus 3:5
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.
Mercy is showing compassion or forgiveness to someone who should rightfully be punished. According to the dictionary, it means holding back judgment when it is fully within your power to act.
We are all born with a sinful nature, marked by the selfishness that entered the world through Adam and Eve. Because of sin, we deserve death, the ultimate consequence. But God, in His deep compassion, chose mercy instead of punishment.
Out of His boundless love, God gave His only Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for our sins. Through Jesus, we are offered forgiveness and the gift of salvation. His mercy wipes away our sins and gives us the promise of eternal life.
This is the power of divine mercy, where we deserve judgment, God gives grace. Where we expect punishment, He offers hope. Let us thank and praise our merciful Savior, who gave everything so that we could be set free.
Mercy by Matt Redman is a heartfelt worship song that acknowledges our unworthiness and praises God for the mercy that saves and restores us.
