Listening for God

Verse of the Day: 1 Samuel 3:10

The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

Prayer isn’t just about us talking to God, it’s also about learning to listen for His voice. We might not hear Him out loud like Samuel did, but we can still learn to recognize when God is speaking to our hearts. When trying to discern if something is from God, ask yourself these questions based on biblical wisdom (1 John 4:1) and Rick Warren’s teaching: Does it line up with the Bible? Does it make me more like Christ? Does my church family confirm it? Is it consistent with how God shaped me? Is it about something I’m responsible for? Does it convict me without condemning me?Do I sense God’s peace about it?

Spend time with the Lord. Be still. Listen with an open heart. The more you draw near to Him, the more you’ll recognize His gentle, loving voice.

Praise God for being a Father who not only hears our prayers but lovingly speaks to His children!

“Speak to Me” by Kari Jobe is a song of worship asking God to speak through His presence, His Word, and everyday life experiences.
