Compassion for the Destitute

Verse of the Day: Matthew 9:36

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

When Jesus looked at the crowds, He didn’t just see people He saw their pain, their struggles, and their desperate need for hope. His heart was moved with compassion, because they were lost and hurting, like sheep without a shepherd. That same compassion still flows from His heart today.

As His followers, we are called to love like Jesus. He didn’t only care about people’s spiritual needs, He cared about their hunger, their sickness, and their pain. Today, we face a growing crisis. So many are homeless, hungry, and hopeless. Rising costs, economic uncertainty, and social unrest have left countless lives in distress, searching for stability and hope.

But we are not powerless. We are the hands and feet of Christ. When we step out in love to serve others, we reflect the heart of our Savior. Whether through a warm meal, a kind word, or a helping hand, we can be part of the healing. And as we care for their needs, we can gently lead them to the One who offers eternal hope, Jesus, the Good Shepherd.

Let us praise God for His mercy and ask Him to fill our hearts with the same compassion that moved Jesus to act. If not us, then who?

“Do Something” by Matthew West is a call to action, reminding us that instead of waiting for change, we are God’s hands and feet and we are meant to be the ones who do something to make a difference in the world.
