Verse of the Day: Hosea 6:6

For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Reflection

Sometimes we think when we do all the “right” Christian things it means we’re doing great. Going to church, saying the right words, following a routine. And while those things matter, I’ve learned something deeper, God cares more about my heart than me just going through the motions. I can show up physically but still be distant inside.

This verse reminds me that God isn’t looking for a performance. He’s looking for mercy in my life. He’s looking at how I treat people. How I respond when someone hurts me. How I show compassion when it would be easier to judge.

It’s easy to get comfortable with routine. I can read my Bible and still ignore someone in need. I can sing worship songs and still hold onto bitterness. That’s when I have to pause and ask myself, is this coming from my heart?

What God wants from me is a relationship. He wants me to actually know Him. To walk with Him. To let His heart shape mine. When I focus on loving people well and growing closer to Him, my faith stops being a checklist and starts being real.

I don’t want empty motions. I want a heart that seeks God. I want my life to reflect mercy, not just rituals.

Prayer

Father God, thank You for caring about my heart and not just my outward actions. Thank You for Your mercy toward me. Help me to live with genuine compassion and not just routine habits. Teach me to know You more deeply and to reflect Your love in how I treat others. Amen.

Don’t just go through the motions, let your faith show up in real mercy, real love, and a heart that truly seeks God.
