Verse of the Day: Luke 5:16
But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
Reflection
I used to think I just had to keep pushing through responsibilities, expectations, and the weight of everyday life. I had to stay steady, stay strong, and I had to keep moving forward. I didn’t always stop to notice how much I was carrying mentally. But after a while, I could feel it. My thoughts felt crowded. My patience felt thinner than usual. My heart needed space to breathe.
Then I paid attention to how Jesus lived. Even with people constantly needing Him, He stepped away. He chose quiet. He made space to be alone and pray. If He needed that time, I definitely do.
I’ve learned that alone time with God isn’t something extra, it’s necessary. It’s where I let go of everything and breathe. It’s where I unload what I’ve been carrying. It’s where I get peace when my thoughts feel out of control. When I turn off the noise and sit with Him, even for a few minutes, something inside me resets.
It’s not always long. Sometimes it’s just me in the early morning with my coffee and my Bible. Sometimes it’s on the drive to work. Sometimes it’s sitting outside in silence and just talking to Him. But those moments calm me. I feel more grounded. More loved. More aware that I’m supported. And honestly, the rest of my day goes better when I’ve taken that time first.
Quiet with God isn’t about checking a box. It’s about staying connected. And I’ve realized I can’t pour out to others if I haven’t first been filled in His presence.
Prayer
Father God, thank You for always inviting me to come close. Thank You for meeting me in the quiet moments. Help me make time to step away from distractions and sit with You. Refresh my heart, clear my mind, and strengthen me as I spend time in Your presence. Amen.
Life Reminder
Make space for quiet time with God, even a few focused minutes alone with Him can ready your heart for the whole day.
