Verse of the Day: Proverbs 15:1
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Reflection
My words carry more weight than I sometimes realize. In the moment, especially when I’m frustrated or hurt, it feels easy to snap back or say something mean. But once the words leave my mouth, I can’t take them back.
I see how a harsh tone can make things worse fast. It stirs up more anger, more tension, more distance. But when I slow down and respond gently, even if I’m still firm, it changes the whole atmosphere. A calm answer doesn’t mean I ignore the issue. It just means I handle it with self-control instead of letting my emotions run the show.
I have to be honest, sometimes I want to “win” the argument more than I want peace. That’s when I know I need to pause. I ask God to help me speak with wisdom and not from my feelings alone. When my words are wrapped in love, people are more open to hearing what I’m actually trying to say.
I want my words to build up, not tear down. I want them to reflect grace, not pride. Choosing a gentle answer doesn’t make me weak, it makes me wise.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the reminder that my words matter. Help me control my reactions and speak with kindness, even when I’m upset. Teach me to respond in a way that reflects Your love and brings peace. Amen
Life Reminder
When you let God guide your words, your gentle response can calm a situation instead of letting it get heated.
