Verse of the Day: Proverbs 19:11
A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.
Reflection
My first reaction when someone offends me isn’t always calm. I feel the urge to defend myself, to respond sharply, to prove my point. But reacting quickly usually makes things worse, not better.
Wisdom slows me down. It helps me pause before I speak. It reminds me that not every comment needs a comeback and not every offense needs a reaction. Overlooking something doesn’t mean I’m weak or that I agree with it. It just means I value peace more than pride.
I’ve also realized that hurt people often hurt people. When I remember that, it softens my response. Instead of assuming the worst, I try to understand. Instead of escalating, I step back. That takes strength, real strength from God.
God shows me patience every single day. He forgives me more times than I can count. So when I choose to extend that same grace to someone else, I’m reflecting the wisdom He’s growing in me. Let’s be honest, holding onto peace feels better than holding onto offense.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being patient with me. Help me slow down when I feel offended and respond with wisdom instead of emotion. Give me the strength to choose grace and let go of what doesn’t need to be carried. Amen
Life Reminder
When you choose patience over offense, you reflect God’s wisdom and protect your own peace.
